Tree trimming and pruning in Hot Springs
Deadwood, clearance and the wire to the house.
Trimming covers dead limbs over the roof, branches scraping siding, low limbs over a driveway, an overgrown crown, and the service line that runs from the pole to the house. The shape of the cuts matters as much as how much comes off.

Prices
| Tree size | Per tree, national |
|---|---|
| Small, under 30 ft | $80 to $420 |
| Medium, 30 to 60 ft | $210 to $790 |
| Large, over 60 ft | $470 to $1,840 |
Lawn Love's average works out to $412 to $612 per tree. The guide gives no separate price for trees near power lines but says they're harder to reach, which raises the cost.
Street trees: permit first, no topping
Hot Springs Ordinance 4867 makes it illegal to prune trees in the city right-of-way without a permit, and topping right-of-way trees is not allowed. The city's Urban Forestry office prunes limbs that hang over the street or sidewalk, but only the part inside the right-of-way, and it periodically holds tree pruning classes. Questions go to (501) 651-7733.
The line to the house
Entergy trims along its primary lines but not around service lines from the pole to the home, which it calls the customer's responsibility. It will disconnect the service at no charge so a tree contractor can work. When Entergy's own crews clear the primary lines, its 2017 release says they cut protruding limbs back to the next limb or to the trunk so they're less likely to grow back into the wires, which can leave a tree trimmed on one side or through the middle. More in trees and power lines.
Arkansas law keeps people and equipment at least 10 feet from an energized overhead line unless it's guarded or de-energized. Limbs on a wire are not a ladder-and-pole-saw job.

Common questions
Can I trim the tree between my sidewalk and the street?
Not without a permit. Hot Springs requires one to prune trees in the city right-of-way, and topping them isn't allowed. Call Urban Forestry at (501) 651-7733.
Who trims limbs off the wire to my house?
You do, through a tree contractor. Entergy says service lines from the pole to the home are the customer's responsibility and will disconnect the line free while the work is done.
Get the trimming priced
Phone the number or send the form; a Garland County tree contractor will follow up to see the job and price it. There's no charge for asking.
After hours? The line takes a message. Say where the tree is, roughly how big, and what it's near.
